  • Start to finish tutorial with the colors used and the movement process used to make this tumbler. It’s so pretty even though it isn’t exactly what my vision was for it! Colors used are Brea Reese brown, and then Tim Holtz Carmel, Latte (a few drops), Ginger, then Pinata white.
Here are the Amazon affiliate links for most of what I used in the video:
-Envirotex Epoxy: Gallon kit amzn.to/2MpmoBS, 32 ounce kit amzn.to/2Qdoaay, 16 ounce kit amzn.to/399KJWg
    -Brea Reese Brown single amzn.to/3988Btd
-Pinata White and black only amzn.to/34NTLol
    -caramel/ginger/latte set amzn.to/2N0SYuh

the bare spots are caused by the white... it causes more surface tension then the other colors..it will happen with the metallic alcohol ink as well..the secret is to break the surface tension..with a swish by a toothpick..some people when doing countertops use a toothbrush.

Excellent Tutorial ! My first attempt was a bit of a bust as I didn’t get enough movement. Overall, the effect was cool , but my white didn’t move as it should have. So, I learned that I definitely hadn’t used enough epoxy and also, don’t use quick set epoxy because it just doesn’t have enough “work time”.

Hi! Love all your videos! Couldn't wait to try alcohol inks on a tumbler. Question, So i tried this technique and have issues.... help! I coated the cup with resin and used alcohol inks, came out great - let it cure overnight.. Applied decals, then went to add the next coat of resin and it separated badly during curing. It barely adhered to the cup? why? Same resin, same room temp. Cup was clean and covered the whole time. How can i fix it? Thanks so much if you have the time to answer or help.

    • @ThePurpleStitch

It was possibly repelling anywhere that had fingerprints touched the cup while applying the decals. I sometimes put a layer of matte clear coat over just before my final coat.

    • @ThePurpleStitch

Make sure your turner is level and try to avoid running your finger at the rim where it might scrape epoxy off. Hope that makes sense. You can also clean that off with a blade before final coating to clean it up nicely.
